Resurfacing…

Sorry it’s been awhile but this new location is kind of a pain in the ass.  I’d move back to blogger but then my two remaining readers would surely bolt.

What’s new?  Nothing.  School sucks.  Honestly I wish I was a quitter.  I’d tell the whole world to bugger off and stay in my nice quiet office and stalkerbook all day.  Of course fate may well decide that for me but I am determined not to let it.  Another frank conversation between the PhD program director and I yesterday may well help my cause.  Cross your fingers.  I mean, instinctively, I’d like to transfer out of NMSU  but I do want to leave on my terms – not anyone else’s and find a program that is a better fit.  What was the conversation about?  My reservations about the quantitative methods professor and the abhorrently low quality of the statistics instruction.  It was awesome!

In other news, the AC folks are getting their PCS orders now.  Friends are going to Schweinfurt (SO JEALOUS) and Fort Campbell – glad for them it’s their first choice but… no, Thank you.  I’d like Fort Lewis but where ever is fine.  Fort Lewis just has UW right up in Seattle so theoretically I could transfer and still end up Dr. Lisa someday.  See, a complicating factor is that all of 1SG’s choices for positions are tier 1 or tier 2 units which means that sometime between whenever we get there and 2012, he’s going East (or West depending on which way you look at things but the flights go east and it’s not a nice place to be right now) for at least one year.  The Wichita  unit – where he’d be working the Colonel he went to Kuwait with – is slated for 2010.  His buddy – the Major – would probably slide in and go with him.  I’m digressing.  Anyway deployment is looming and its alignment with my program completion is critical to determine where and whether I can actually finish.  Can you see how that’s a bit… stressful?

Personally, health-wise, I’ve been working on it.  Doing yoga in the mornings and trying to park and walk 15 minutes to my office when time permits.  I need to do more and I will.   I’m also working on a speed reading course and improving my study methods.  So far, interesting.  Improving but not where I want them.  Yes, dammit.  I do want to be superwoman.

glücklicher Freitag!
